Hi there, Developer!
IOS Dev Tools is returning after a short break. We are sharing the top 3 tools of the week as usual.
Our goal is to improve this newsletter by providing more information & resources. We are thinking of including the work opportunities first. Full-time, part-time and freelance gigs.
We would love to hear which ones are more interesting to you. Please leave your vote!
This week, our newsletter showcases tools such as RNCrypto, Mapbox IOS, and Alamofire.
👉 If you have some interesting tools you would like to share with IOS Dev Tools audience, let us know at hi@iosdev.tools!
MapBox
Mapbox iOS is a popular and powerful mapping platform explicitly designed for iOS, which displays a customized and interactive map for native iOS.
It allows developers to display various map styles and annotations, draw shapes, add markers, and incorporates location-based services. It has gained popularity due to its ease of use, robust and well-explained documentation, and the ability to integrate with other libraries and frameworks. It is used in various applications, including travel apps, navigation apps, location-based services, and any application requiring mapping features.
Why you will like it:
It is straightforward to use because of the well-explained documentation.
Its ability to integrate with other frameworks and libraries.
The platform is highly flexible, allowing developers to tailor the map's appearance and functionality to suit their app's specific needs.
It supports offline maps, which makes it convenient for users in areas with limited or no internet connections.
Alamofire
Alamofire is a trendy third-party HTTP networking library written in Swift for iOS and Mac OS. Its main aim is to simplify the network request process and handle the response to such requests in iOS.
Why you will like it:
UrlSession is excellent and powerful, but it can be pretty verbose and involves a lot of boilerplate code for handling network requests, parsing responses, and error handling. Alamofire makes all these more elegant and provides concise API for dealing with network communication.
It allows chain-able request and response methods.
It simplifies the Multipart upload.
It monitors network reachability.
For authentication, it supports many authentication mechanisms.
RNCrypto
RNCrypto is a cross-language Advanced Encryption Standard(AES) encryptor/Decryptor with AES-256, random-salted PBKDF2, AES-CBC, random IV, and HMAC.
It is also available on other platforms. AES is a widely used symmetric encryption algorithm.
Why you will like it:
It’s easy for basic password encryption and decryption.
It’s fast and memory efficient.
It supports direct key-based encryption and decryption.
