iOS Dev Tools: Notepad.exe, SimTag, Rich HTML Editor
The best tools at your fingertips.
Hey! 👋
Usually, I don’t share anything in the intro section, but this time I’d like to.
I’ve launched my first micro SaaS, or as I call it, an online tool: Carousel Maker
It’s a tool that helps you create carousels quickly for LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook.
The tool is built from scratch. A lot of testing, many improvements, and I’d say it’s a solid version 1.0. 🤞
If you’re interested feel free to check it!
Now, let’s dive in!
Let’s connect on X (ex-Twitter) & LinkedIn! 🤝
Forget about Ruby and Fastlane installation issues!
Discover Codemagic CLI tools — the free, open-source Fastlane alternative for automating iOS builds, code signing and publishing.
Notepad.exe
Lightweight coding scratchpad for macOS, built for experiments, snippets, and rapid prototyping. Open it, write your code, and run it - no project setup required.
Why you will like it:
Run Swift/SwiftUI instantly with no projects. Use the iOS Simulator and export Mac apps when you’re ready.
Design and run SwiftUI with an integrated iOS Simulator for rapid iteration.
Run scripts fast with zero setup and organize them in the Notes Library.
Prototype SwiftUI/UIKit screens and test APIs in the Simulator without projects.
SimTag
SimTag adds a small overlay to each iOS Simulator window indicating which git branch produced the running build.
Why you will like it:
Tiny macOS utility that overlays your current Git branch directly on the iOS Simulator.
If you’re running multiple AI coding sessions in parallel - or juggling Git worktrees - with each pushing changes to the Simulator, it’s easy to accidentally test the wrong branch without realizing it.
Keeps your active branch visible at all times, so you always know exactly what you’re running.
Rich HTML Editor
It’s an open-source WYSIWYG HTML editor designed for iOS, macOS, and visionOS. We originally created it to power the email composer in our own app, but it’s flexible enough to be used in any project that needs rich text editing.
Why you will like it:
Full HTML editing with live formatting (bold, links, ...).
Cross-platform support for iOS, macOS, and visionOS.
Works with both SwiftUI and UIKit/AppKit.
Swift 6 compatible.
Customizable with CSS.
Built on top of WebKit using the
contenteditableHTML standard.
Tusk
Tusk is an open-source testing platform that automatically turns your app traffic into unit and API tests. It lets you test code changes against real-world user behavior to prevent regressions.
GitSync
GitSync Lite lives in your macOS menu bar and monitors all your Git repositories: dirty or clean status, branches, ahead or behind counts, and the last commit time.
Cloud Sync backs up what Git usually ignores, such as .env files, databases, and IDE configs, to iCloud, Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google Drive.
